text: |
Today is a day of resting for the Aukheang morung. For Angban, Thepong and Bala it is a day of preparation. Tomorrow they will kill the pigs and the day after tomorrow the great feast will be held. The girls and women go off into the jungle and bring back large baskets full of the smooth white cylinders which they detach from the wild banana trees. These are then chopped up and are cooked into a brownish pulp. Large amounts of white, smooth leaves called Lai-to are also dragged into the village as these will serve as plates at the feast and will also be used to wrap up presents of meat and rice for others. |
