Just as I was going into the village with Yongang, messengers arrived from Kongan with a letter in which Colonel Wright asks me to join him in a tour of the Abor outposts. I am supposed to meet him in Saikoaghat on the 24th. As all of the Konyak traditions indicate that they have come from the Brahmaputra Valley into the Naga Hills I'm interested in seeing a tribe of the mountains on the other side of the Brahmaputra. Furthermore, the day after tomorrow all gaonburas are leaving Wakching for about ten days to take the house tax to Mokokchung so that I would lose my most important informants here anyway. |
