Much later came the Thepong boys with the heads of two slaughtered cows and of all the pigs as well as with madhu in leaf bowls, but they do not go to the house in a solemn procession as the Aukheang had done the other day, but in small groups, and single individuals also come along and one youth does not even say the ceremonial: "He, He, He, Ha, Ha, Ha", but silently tears up the leaf bowl. While in the Aukheang, Chinyang, pays attention that all is done according to the old customs, I have the feeling that the Thepong is lacking that sort of a guiding spirit on such occasions. A total of 22 pigs and 2 cows has been slaughtered in the Thepong. Shankok is still not quite mended which may be because he starts eating as soon as he feels slightly better. |
