This morning I wanted to go to the new fields to watch people working, but on the way I met Medzou who told me that planting there had virtually finished and that everyone was on the old fields. So I then went to the old fields accompanied by Yongem. Two older men carrying filled rice baskets were also just on their way down. They were going to one of Shankok's fields to start planting there. One of them was from the Thepong, the other was a Balang man, the true cousin of Shankok's mother. Shankok rewards there services with rice. They have put leaves into their baskets. |
