The morning was clear and cooler than the last few days. After eight o'clock I started off to have a look at Anaki. At first the path leads through tall forest and passed a pond (Sean) which gives the village its name. It is only a small pond in the forest at least now in the dry season, although it probably gets a bit bigger during the rains. After some up and down one has to go down a good way and finally one comes to a ridge on one side of which the new fields of Anaki start and go up all the way to the village. These fields have been partly burnt off already, partly there are still tree trunks and branches aimlessly scattered around, just as they fell down. |
