In the afternoon I took down the marriage customs which are radically different from those of Wakching. (Notebook 7 p. 133 ff.) It is remarkable that a woman remains with her parents and continues to sleep in the girls' morung even after the birth of a child born in her husband's house. (213) Only after several years she moves permanently in with her husband. Often when the first child is already six years old. But if her parents are poor this time may be reduced to a minimum. |
