In Shankok's field the first blades of rice and millet already are beginning to appear, strangely enough most numerously along the narrow path to the site of the field hut. There three of Shankok's fellow clan members have already started with the construction, have dug holes for the side posts and laid down the beams which form the ground plan of the house. Now they are busy driving the side posts into the ground by lifting each one many times and pushing it down into the earth with a pointed end until the hole is deep enough |
