Metlou reads the omens , predicts a plain wife |
text: |
Metlou took the omen for a number of events. At first two matters near at hand. My cats had once again run away. Metlou said they would come back today but only quite late at night. Indeed they returned long after dark. (216) In addition he predicted good weather for the day after tomorrow. To the question of whether I would return to Wakching he consulted the oracle and said that I would have difficulties and that my own people would advise me against it but that finally I would come back once. It was less delightful what he had to say about my marital chances. I would marry very soon but my wife would not be very attractive. While taking the oracle he was mumbling the question concerned such as "Will the two cats return today or not"? Packing up took up all my time but again and again people came to see me, the gaonburas especially are now often astonishingly dilligent. |
