text: Friendship:
text: Shimba = boys and men of same age and same morung who enter the morung in the same year, (or related morung ie. some exogamous unity, or same clan of another village.)
text: Ningba = boys and men of same age and different morung (who can marry each other's sisters).
text: There is no formal friendship between men of the same village. Friends of different villages call each other 'yin-ba'. These friendships begin at (100) the ceremonial visits of morungs. Then a boy may ask another to stay in his house. Then they exchange gifts, as salt or any small objects they have in their house. In the future the two 'yinba' offer each other hospitality.
text: Mong-dzem ("minds joint") bosom friends within the same village, of the same or another morung. The 'mongdzem' gets the neck of every mithan killed. They help each other in difficulties and illness, and address each other 'mong-dzem'. (99v) If one 'mong-dzem' dies, the other gets his spear or dao as soon as the skull is disposed, and keeps it with him, "like being with his friend". 'Mong-dzem' eat together at ceremonies. When one 'mong-dzem' dies the other comes to his house and stays there for the whole day. He does the same on the day the skull is disposed.
