text: Wedding of an Ang:
text: When Mewang (Ang of Chui) married his wife from Mon, he first sent one of his servants to Mon with a dao (a piece of iron fastened its handle). This was given instead of pan. If the girl's parents don't agree they send back the dao. (75) Then the girl's parents send word that she would come in such and such month.
text: Then on the appointed day the bride came to Chui accompanied by her parents and all her friends, boys and girls. There was much feasting and dancing. Also from Oting, Longkhai, Wangla, Longlam, Hungphoi, Pungkhung, Tanhai, Leangniu people came to dance to Chui (they are all the "sons" of Mon) - also the twelve "sons" of Chui came. When his bride came to Chui he paid the price (76) to her father. It consisted in 3 mithan, 3 buffaloes, 100 daos, 300 spears. The Ang of Chui gave to his daughter 6 precious "spirit money" necklaces worth 100-200 rupees each.
