| text: | Some 20 or 25 years ago Mou-ha and Nei-dzong drove Ang-ban away. Half of it went to Shiong and half to Chinlong. After a time (88) all came to Shiong. Then Totok sent word by Ang-long to Hi-ong, one of the refugees, that he should kill the leader of the Ang-ban people, Katwang, for then he and his family peacefully may return to Totok. Katwang once went to Chinlong. On that day Hi-ong told his wife that he would kill Katwang and then go straight, and that [she] should secretly go with his family to Totok at night. This conversation was overheard by some boys. Hi-ong and Ang-long ambushed Katwang and wounded him in the shoulder with a gun. (89) But Katwang's brother who had heard the news had gone to warn Katwang and met him before he was attacked. He speared and wounded Hi-ong on the spot. Then Hi-ong escaped to Totok, but his brothers and family were killed by the Shiong and Wakching people in the jungle. They let them go and then ambushed them. Only his wife, who was from Shiong, was let go to Totok. The brothers, and the father and mother and children of Hi-ong were on their way to Totok killed by a combined troop (90) of Shiong and Wakching - eight heads were taken. All the heads were taken to Wakching, as "Shiong is a small village". Ahon had killed one too. |
