Informant: Dzem-ang (Bala) There are three men in Wakching who make gennas for illness: Aku - a Chinlong man (who came to Wakching when the Govt. punished and burnt). Dzin-geam (Nokanokphong, Angban). Be-long (Dzo-nok, Bala). |

When a man is ill an omen is taken who of these men will make a genna. They are called Tak-ban-ba (tak = illness, ban = to clean) "washer of illness". |

(108) In the case of Melo of Bala, Aku killed a chicken and took an omen of the intestines, to see whether Melo will recover soon or not. |

There is a special sickness (a heavy head-ache and connected with a pain in the eyes) which is in some way connected with the Great Angs. They don't have it themselves but contact with them causes it. Therefore the Wakching people are afraid of entering an Ang's house or opposing an Ang in any way, - it is (109) said that if an Ang gets angry with a man, the latter will get that head-ache, without the Ang making any magic. If a man in Wakching gets that illness he makes an omen with ginger and [] to see from which of the three Great Angs (Chi, Mon, Sheangha) it came. |
