On the sixth day of the month Shou-bau-li, the boys and girls of the morung which makes the Shou-bau-bu go to the jungle and fetch eatable leaves and the inside of wild banana trees. The name of this day is Ni-wok (the sixth) which is not genna. The next day the men whose sons or brothers enter the morung kill a pig or a chicken. |

(170) The third day the heads of the pigs are taken to Yonglong's house. Later on the jaw-bones are fastened between split bamboos and hung up at the front of the house of the morung Ang, like enemies heads. Yonglong mixes rice with pieces of a pig's foot and some earth and throws them on the jaw-bones. [konyak]. Then he cuts a small chicken in the mouth and swings it over the jaw-bones. (171) This night the boys sleep for the first time in the morung and are not allowed to talk to their parents. One elder morung boy who must still have both his parents takes care of them and gives them the food their parents bring. He then shuts them into one of the sleeping compartments. The next morning they first must go to the spring and take a bath, then they go to their parents house. |
