Yong-shu-bu (worms - kill - ceremony) a ceremony to kill the worms who eat the rice made at the end of the month Lingha-li. The Neangba of Balang, Yophong, announces in the whole village: tomorrow we shall kill the worms. [konyak]. Then the people on the next day mix a very hot, small fruit which grows in the village (magat) - like chillies - with water and throw it on their fields. This is meant to kill the worms. The next day is genna. (193) They say in throwing it "Yong-li-do" (worms may die). |
