origins of village of Punkhung |

Informant: the Ang of Punkhung. |
text: |
Punkhung has also the tradition of having come from the plains along the Dikhu and first to have lived at Chinlong. Then they lived at Punuhong, an abandoned site between Tanhai and Punkhung. |

Punkhung was founded by a man of Khudzushem clan, a sub-clan of Long-pong-shu (a Ben clan) (cf. p. 20). The Ang clan came at the same time. (11) Formerly the first field house was built by a man of Yan-lem-ba clan, but this clan died out, and nowadays all the men of the village build a small rest house ("morung") on the path to the fields. The next day anybody may build his field house. The Yan-lem-ba clan was also among the village founders. |
