restrictions on sex and marriage of Ang's daughter |
text: |
(50) The Ang's own daughters are not allowed to sleep with the Ben boys because they are meant to marry the Angs of other villages. They can't marry Angs of Wangla because they are of the same clan; neither can they marry Lunglam Angs (for the same reason). Lapha is considered as not equal; neither Tanhai. They can marry Hungphoi or Punkhung Angs, - but in Pungkhung there are no Ang sons and in Hungphoi only very young ones. Longkhai is of the Great Ang clan and so is Mon. They could marry an Ang of (51) Lempong-Shengha (a "son" of Mon). For this reason it is difficult to marry off these girls and the Ang people are very concerned about it. If there is no Ang son of an Ang wife, the son of a Ben wife may become Ang. |
