When the girl becomes pregnant one day her upper legs are tattooed. This takes the whole day and is done in the parents' house. In the meanwhile the girl's female (63) relatives assemble in her parents' house in the morning and are there entertained. In the afternoon the husband's parents cook food and carry it to the house of the girl. Here it is eaten by all the female relatives of the girl and the husband, but the men don't take part in the eating. The husband is not allowed to eat at all on that day. The men don't assemble. No special ceremony is done and no formulas recited. After the tattooing wounds have healed, the woman goes to her husband's house. If a girl doesn't become pregnant but wants to go to her husband (64) the tattooing may be done too. After the tattooing of the upper legs is done a woman is buried in her husband's burial place. |
