text: | Tiger is eaten by Ben clan but not by Ang clan. Meat of a tiger's kill is eaten by Ben and Ang people, except by the ruling Ang and his wife. Bear is not eaten by women. Goat is eaten by everybody. (131) When an Ang dies the Angs and men of Mon, Longkhai, Lungnyu, Oting, Wangla and several other villages come and dance in front of his house. Mon eats two pigs of Hungphoi. The corpse of an Ang is put upon a platform at the place in front of his house where the stones erected for taken heads are. The Benbas dispose of the body. Two death figures are made and set up on the same place. The land of the dead is Lembu and it is in the direction (132) of Chongwe, within the earth. On the path are the same two guardians as in the belief of Oting. When a Great Ang dies there is an earthquake. There is the same story about the sun as in Oting, and none about the moon. |
