(154) Tigers are hunted in the same way as the Aos do by building a fence and then ringing them. When a tiger is killed the men bring the carcase to the genna place outside the village. Then the Ang's wife takes one "chunga" with water and some leaves as used at funerals to that place. She pours the water on the head of the tiger and adorns it with a crown made of the leaves (like the heads of dead men) "because he is of her clan" and says: [konyak] (155) "You have eaten other people's goats and pigs, because you have eaten them we have killed you". Then the old men carry the tiger to the head place near the Ang's morung where they put it to the ground. Then all the young and old men of the village dance, like after taking a head. There is no special genna, but no work is done any more in the village. |
