The Ang of Chi and men and women of Chi came to Longkhai to celebrate the wedding in the Ang's house. That night the Chi men danced with the Longkhai girls and the Longkhai men with the (180) Chi girls. The Longkhai Ang danced among the other Longkhai men and his bride among the Chi girls of her gang. The Ang then killed a chicken in the inner room of his house and swung it towards his bride and said: [konyak] "May many children be born to my clan, may they live till they are bent by old age and have white hair; since time immemorial my ancestors have married women from Chi". (181) The next day the Ang of Chi and his people went back to their village, but five Ben girls from Chi stayed with the bride for one month. This was fourteen years ago. |
