(71) There are contradicting traditions about the first time after the village foundation. Shankok says that first there were no Ang clans in the Ang-ban but only the Ying-yong-hu. On the other hand he says that when they first came from Assam there were two brothers of Ang-nok-pong clan, the elder became village Ang, the younger stayed in the plains but the Balang people wanted to have him as Ang and carried him up on their shoulders. Dzem-ang the present (72) morung Ang of Balang is his descendant. This suggests that the coming of these Angs doesn't lie back very far as Dzemang still counts as belonging to the Angban as to the rules of exogamy. |
