final ceremony with the head |
text: |
(81) Today is the final ceremony with the head. In the Thepong two cows and 22 pigs were killed. A foreleg of each of these animals is given to the morung. The poorer people sacrificed chickens and also give one leg to the morung. Every man gives some rice and madhu. All this is eaten by the older men of the morung, not by the young men (eg. Shankok). Shankok gave one hindleg of the cow to a man of Chinglong whom he had invited. (82) Shankok gave the other hindleg of the sow to Wan-pong his sister, Liphu's, husband, but he didn't give anything to Shanglong, the husband of Meniu who is the young one of the two sisters. He will receive from Wan-pong one spear and one dao in return. |
