Dukdang, a man of Nokanokphong (Ang) clan and Ang-ban, married Meniu of Koknokhu clan and Thepong. When her father, Shouba, was still alive as she had no brothers, Dukdang went to live in her house in Thepong, so that Meniu could cook for her father. But some time ago the father died and now the Thepong men want Dukdang to leave the Thepong and build a house on Angban. Wei-dzing, a man of Shouba's clan, inherited his fields and the house site. (121) Dukdang has another house in the Ang-ban morung, and in this his first wife, Lipung of Aukheang, and his son live. He has also one son and one daughter by the Thepong wife. He stayed for six years in the Thepong morung, but not continually, but slept sometimes in his old house, sometimes in that of Shouba. Both women worked on his fields, but sometimes they both worked on Shouba's fields. At first the two wives quarrelled a lot, but now they get on quite well. (122) In the Thepong lives a Chi man, Wang-dzing, his wife, Shek-nia, is of Yinyonghu clan and Ang-ban. His grandfathers already came to live at Wakching as food was short in Chi, his clan is Wem-nok-hu. |

There is a young man in Bala, Shanglong, whose home is Chinglong. When the Govt. burnt Chinglong his parents went to live in Chingphoi. There he got his face tattooed. Then he came to Wakching and settled in the Bala. He married a Thepong girl, Shek-yin, (123) the daughter of Lung-nie, a man who also came from Chinglong. |

Shunga, a Chi man, lives in the Ang-ban. He came as a young man (his face is tattooed) at his own will because it is easier to make a living at Wakching, the plains being nearer. He brought a wife from Chi and built a house (all five morungs helped him). He had one son who died. He has two daughters. One of them, Bho-lim, married a Bala man, Mauwing. He himself lives some (124) times at Wakching (with his daughter), and sometimes at Borjan, and his younger daughters go with him. He does odd jobs as cutting wood and so on, but he has no fields. |
