The other important genna for the rice is the Pung-wem-bu, after harvest. (145) In Pong-long-pong-li (on the 7th day) the Beang-dzak-bu is held. The rice is then in the ears. Yong-mek fetches some rice and some millet from the fields. The Neangbas gather at the Aukheang rest house. Here Yongmek burns the rice and millet ears, without saying anything. The next day is genna too. The Neangbas kill and eat a chicken. At full moon of the same month the Pong-long-pong-bu is held. On that day the Ang and the rest of the Neangbas meet in the same rest house and eat one pig (which they bought with fine money) and (146) rice. Each morung gives them one big basket of dhan. With this they buy a pig: [konyak]. |
