text: If a man steals a pig and is caught, he has to pay to the owner the price and a fine of about half the value of the pig. Moreover he has to pay Rs 10/- to the Neangba's however small or big the pig was. If a chicken is stolen by a man of the same morung, the thief has to give another chicken to the owner in exchange. If, however, he is of another morung he has to pay Rs 5/- to the owner. (cf. Diary, p. 220)
