The day after the head was brought in a stone was set up at the genna place in front of the Ang's house. Formerly the head-taker carried the stone. The Naba, a man of Nahim clan, dug a small hole into the ground and put in a small piece of the head. Then he erected the stone on top of it. Then he fed the stone with madhu and said: [konyak]. (21) At head-hunting times the first killer took the head and his companions, the hands and the feet. Therefore the Naba says that the head and the feet shall come. At the final ceremony with the heads, the date for which is not fixed by custom, they split a bamboo (22) and put it up near the entrance of the village like this: SKETCH P.22 |
