The Oyabu will be held late this year because the fields are not yet burnt, then the field houses must be built and the rice sown, only afterwards the Oyabu is held. (36) At the Oyabu three bamboo poles are erected in front of the Ang's house, one in the centre of the platform and two in the ground. The Yemba, a man of Wangshu clan, makes the genna at the post. He says: [konyak]. These words are addressed to Hayang. (37) The Yemba kills a small pig in front of the two posts near the Ang's house. He then sprinkles some blood and some madhu at the "lai-mei" leaves fastened to the bamboos. On the evening of the O-ya-nu day the old Ang men stand closely around the post. The old Ben men form a circle round the Ang men and the young men and boys run around the bamboo and the old men. (38) |
