2 cases where an Ang has been killed by his own village. Banfera - he kept tame elephants. They did damage to the crops. A man took him out to shoot jungle fowl. To avoid killing the Ang he shot him through the thigh. The Ang didn't die of that and was taken to the village badly wounded. Here he was told: "You have to die in any case, therefore better take this dose of opium". The Ang in his terrible pain took it and died. Then the man who shot him was killed, and afterwards the man who had killed that man. |

(60) A village across the frontier. The Ang was most oppresive. He went down to the fields with lots of his men. There were a lot of girls working in the fields. So the Ang said "I can have any of these girls, here in front of you". As some of his men were of the same clan as some of the girls they said "We have stood many things, but we definitely won't stand that". The Ang didn't take any notice of this and walked in a bravado way to one of the girls. Seeing this men simply chopped him to pieces. |
