text: The population consists of three Ang clans and a number of Ben clans, - the women of all but two cut their hair short as the women of the commoner clans in Niaunu do. I feel altogether that these Konyaks are identical with the Wanchus. Shangnyu is almost halfway between Mon and Niaunu, and the three belong socially and culturally to the same unit.
