singing and meeting of boys and girls |

Later this evening we went to Wakching and observed the nightlife of the young which has hardly changed since my first visit. Although there are no more separate girls' clubs (yo), the girls assemble in certain houses and start by singing by themselves, sitting on the pounding tables and later in the porch. There they are visited by groups of boys, who first sing by themselves standing at the door and in the porch, and then join the (67) girls. In the old days they brought bamboo torches, but now they carry hurricane lamps and even electric torches. |
