text: Wanching is even less touched by modern influences than Wakching. Only a minority of the inhabitants are Christians and the pagan majority continues to perform the old rituals. The morungs are in excellent shape and clearly regularly used. Yet there is a large church in a prominent central place. I was told that the pagan villagers helped the Christians to build it, - an act of brotherly assistance which apparently is not reciprocated by the Christians when a morung is rebuilt. - In the church there are some prints of bible scenes showing white-skinned figures, - and not one single item remotely connected with Naga culture.
