Settlement of new villages |
text: |
Temimi, about 11 miles, through Tezatsimi. On the way the Kotesimi G.B. asked leave to start a new village from Kotesimi with some 16 houses. I forbade it, though I said he might go if he got the whole of Tezatsimi to join him, as Tezatsimi is already an offshoot from Kotesimi and though another small offshoot is in itself most undesirable, it will make no difference if it absorbs Tezatsimi. |

Temimi appears to be neither Rengma nor Sangtam in language. It has a legend of origin very like that of Sohemi from whom it claims to have first taken wives. There is a new Sema village - Hokiya settled near Temimi. Probably it is settled on Kotesimi land but as Kotesimi made no complaint when it came, two years ago, I have refused to eject it now. It will however pay revenue. A dobashi will be sent from Kohima to assess it after my return. Office please note. |
