assessing border villages for revenue |
text: |
Across the high range and down to the Tizu through Satoi and Wokevi I am not sure whether these villages fall inside the notified boundary of the Naga Hills or not but I think they do, in which case I shall assess them to revenue. The path from Satuho to the top of the ridge is a very bad one, very steep, very narrow, and here and there a more or less precipitous drop, sometimes on both sides. The coolies however did not seem to be in the least affected by it and carried their loads without apparent difficulty where one wondered how they could keep their balance on the shale path. From the ridge down to the Tizu the path is good and that part from Wokevi to the river is a graded path from 3 to 4 feet broad with young oaks planted along it. In all about 12 miles. |
