To Longsa. The bridge needs looking at, as the iron ties on the pier appear to be slipping. If they go the whole bridge will be carried away when the Dikhu rises, as the pier is probably not strong enough to resist the current without them. The approach road to the bungalow is destroyed with mithan. I have told the Muharrir to fence it at both ends and put in a gate as is done by Ao villages. The bungalow badly needs a steel or something to put the basin on, also the oil for cleaning tables etc. is wrongly mixed. Before I could use the table at Longsa I had to have it scraped with a dao, but it is still sticky. The chair and shelves are sticky too. |

Longsa have a case about houses. They say that when I put a fire line in the village I ordered the surrender of certain land planted with bamboos to the persons ejected from their home sites, and that this land has been taken up by other people who are not entitled to it. On this they went and started building another tila near the I.B. The S.D.O. ordered them to pull down their houses but it is said that this has not yet been finished. I told them that the S.D.O. would settle the matter. |

On the way up I saw the terraces of Sema Shitzi. They look very good and rich fields down by the Dikhu. I asked after the Longsa panikhets and was told that the S.D.O. had allowed them to be given up as they were not made by Govt. I think that this is quite untrue and that Govt. paid for the labour. I knew that I told Longsa that if they gave them up I should offer the fields free to Sapotimi as their own. Unfortunately they are a very long way from Sapotimi though there is a deserted site, or any way a site that would do for a village, quite close to these panikhets. The Longsa panikhets ought to be exceptionally good being down in the Dikhu valley. The hydrangeas in the bungalow compound very fine indeed. |
