text: The orders about all gaonburas being given gun licenses without further question seems to have been misunderstood. The Gaonbura of Dhansiripur asked for a gun as "bakshis" and when I asked what he had done that Government should do him this honour he replied that he had been told by the Mauzadar of Dimapur that all Gaonburas as such were entitled to have a gun as a free present. I explained that the orders applied to plains districts and not to the Naga Hills.
