text: Went up to the graves again and had some of the extra stones taken off the top as they had put up too many. I ordered the Semoma people that they were not to add anything to the erection or to dig away any more soil below. They were anxious to reopen an old path below the graves but this would have entailed digging in such a way as to cause a most formidable wall at one end and a long part of the side next to it and I forbade them to reopen the path. I also ordered the existing sticks and string lines to remain where they were until the place had been measured. I intend to send out the Overseer to make a measured plan of the whole space so that future allegations can easily be tested. Then back to Kohima in a bitterly cold rain.
