text: A great deal of trouble has been caused by irregular impressment of coolies here, and Kezoma had an account of unpaid coolies extending over the past three years. I refused to entertain any claims more than a year old, but took account of unpaid coolies during the last year. Most of them were in connection with the Assam Rifles: some had been impressed by Mistris working for the Civil Works. I have told Kezoma that they must claim within one month in future if they expect to be paid.
