Confiscated the tools of the interloping wood cutters and marched to Tamlung where we were met by the Sub-divisional Officer and also by the news that the CHANGS had made an attack in comparatively small numbers on YACHAM after establishing friendly relations with YONG, but that YONG had suddenly turned and attacked them in the rear. The Changs escaped with the loss of 14 killed and one captured - very cheap indeed seeing that they were taken in the rear in YONG village and attacked inside and from the machan of the houses and entirely surrounded. It was a piece of particularly dirty work by Yong, who would have been wiped out by the previous Chang expedition which was a very big one, if KOMA of YAMRUP had not saved them by turning the whole lot back when he found that YONG was likely to suffer. |
