text: To Pungithung - 19 or 20 miles. There are two paths, one through Phiro and down into the valley and up again, the other along the bridle path to Longsa and then down the spur. I chose the latter and rode as far as Kotsoma - 8 or 9 miles, walking the rest. Ranchamo met me at Pungithung and produced his "case book", a record in Lhota of the cases settled by him. I notice that that blackguard Tulsi Bhaju figures in it in connection with a woman from Nankam. I told Ranchamo that any case in which he was concerned should go to the Subdivisional Officer in future and I recommend this one to his notice - not necessarily for action but at least to bear in mind.
