To Yekhum. Before going a dispute between the Christians and Ancients in Sanis came up, and much mutual recrimination, Chipasao accusing the Gaonburas of hounding him out of the village, and the Gaonburas accusing Chipasao of organizing processions to sing hymns round the village on genna days, and of teaching the children that the King of the United States of America was a much bigger man than the King of Bilayat. Chipasao also reported the torturing of two mithan which the Gaonburas admitted, and which the Subdivisional Officer will please deal with. |

The bridge over the Dayang needs attention. Of the rope loops, on which the foot way is carried, many need rebinding. The whole bridge, but particularly the wire rope parts needs retarring, and the galvanized iron of the foot way is exposed (as on many bridges on this road) and ought to be recovered at once as otherwise the galvanized surface will wear through and the whole turn to rust. I dare say that it would also be as well to examine the anchorages, but I am not sure that I would trust the Mokokchung Overseer to open them up and recover them without letting the bridge down. He should not, by the way, earth oil the bridge after he has tarred her. |
