Dancing at Guilong; negrito types |
text: |
To Guilong. Part of the road still uncut for at least 1-and-a half miles. In the evening the village insisted on giving us a dance, and some of them danced very prettily, particularly the dance of the crows going home at night. The Negrito type is very strong in these villages, the aborigines having very clearly been driven south and north (where the type is strong among the Konyaks) by an immigration from the east or south east through Manipur. |

The Inspection Bungalow is an old fort not occupied as such since the Naga Hills were taken over, and a very pleasant site. Shemkhor, summoned at Leikei, Laishong, and here as usual failed to put in an appearance, the other party to the case having followed me about now for five days, at least. |
