Halted Lazemi and went to the site of the Mishilimi-Natsimi land dispute some five miles away and laid the necessary boundary. Details will be found in Political Case No 15 of 1923. This land dispute is a hardy perennial and dates from Mr. Davis' time as a recorded dispute. I have filled in the last gap in the boundary but do not for a moment suppose that I have laid the demon. |

On the way back I counted Mishilimi, and after my return distributed some of the Labour Corps Medals and dealt with a few cases. The Kohozu-Kishili, Sakhalu-Natsimi case cropped up. The Sub Deputy Collector gave Kohozu a decree for Rs 120/- and the other side came in twice to appeal and found me out. I have told her I will hear it when she had deposited the decretal amount, but the story here is very different from that at Sakhalu. The real dispute is a conflict of divorce custom and I expect it would be fairest to split the claim somehow, but apparently the reputed bastard was well-known to be Kohozu's as he stopped regularly at the lady's house in Natsimi on his way to and from Kohima some times for three days at a time, and only married the girl when she was known to be pregnant by him. The child was killed by an "accidental" fall - its head hit a stone. There has been some stout lying on both sides, I expect, anyway arcades ambo. |
