To Kilomi. On the way I reserved the jungle from the junction of the Yezhimo-aolo and Yezhimo-akizheo streams to their sources on the top of the ranges. Kilomi are permitted to take any jungle produce, but not to cultivate in that area. |

On enquiry I found that the Jangli Sahib had given orders to put back the dates of my daks by one day. I am disobliged to the Jangli Sahib for interfering with my daks. When I arrange my daks they are worked out carefully (1) to arrive at convenient places and seasons for their disposal and despatch; (2) to provide me with bread and other necessities when those I have are consumed; (3) to fit in with the incoming home mail and to catch the outgoing mail by return. As it is each dak has arrived just at the end instead of the beginning of the halt arranged to deal with it on; I have had my bread supply reduced to repulsive crusts, the green fungoids of which I could scrape from the outside but not from the interstices inside; I have got my English mail a day later than I need have and missed the return post by one day. |
