text: Halted at Chipen and went to Pongithung to count it. I was told the distance was 6 miles but it must have been much more - 9 at the very least, as though I started at 9.30 and wasted no time anywhere, I did not get back till after dark.
text: There seems to be a considerable preponderance of women here, and quite a number of revenue paying houses without any able-bodied male member, a matter of some importance when calling out coolies in any number.
