28/7/1926 To Satakha. The 74th mile which falls both sides of Ghukiya I.B. is at present done by Mokokchung, but the Muharrir obviously doesn't look after the Kohima half and the village whose mile it is is Zhekiya. This mile will be transferred to Kohima, and it would probably be sound to transfer the rest of Zhekiya's miles if any. |

An iron bridge is badly needed over the Katobascoki stream just short of the 72nd mile stone. I think it could probably be done from the remnants of the Kileki bridge now kept at Ghukiya I.B. If so it would be worth doing this year, as the present wooden bridge is likely to go this rains and will need replacing before next rains, anyway. |

The road was enlivened by Nyimsao's famous impersonation of Sanchamo delivering a sermon, Sanchamo being a Lhota evangelist who has been to the States and stutters. Also by the account of the Sema preacher Nihevi who says long graces before meat. While calling a blessing on his meal the other day, with covered eyes, his dog ate it all, which says a good deal for his abstraction. |
