Halted Mokokchung. Dealt with a few cases, including the Holongba killing case. The Sangtams say the Semas stole, and therefore they killed them. In this particular case it is probably untrue, but it is impossible to find out and I warned both sides against interfering in any way with British subjects in case of war. |

Lac seems to be going ahead steadily - suitable trees are being planted in Mokokchung by various people and seed lac is being distributed. The Lhotas are said to have made money already, as one man alone is reported to have made Rs. 150/- this year. As it has only been going since Mr. Pawsey started it in 1924-25, that is not too bad at all. The S.D.O. is going to try to start it in the Sema country this year, and if possible in the Chang country. |

I visited the hospital where Dr. Crunden is doing extraordinarily good work. The number both of in and out-patients is 50% above normal, and he has had to open a new ward in the old building, where luckily there was room. |
