To Ndrak-eru, where many Lhotas from Mailang came in. Mailang complain of excessively high cooly indents for reliefs of Mokokchung. They are also troubled with a rogue elephant which has attacked a man and dislocated his hip as well as ripped open his thigh. I gave them leave to kill it if it turned up in the village again before l April 1929. |

The Pyangsa Gaonburas turned up with an unpleasant fellow who had bitten his adversary in the testicle - not it appeared entirely without provocation, but still he seemed to have exceeded the right of self defence. Like the man injured by an elephant the victim said he was in much too much pain to be carried to a hospital (a long and rough journey) and would prefer to die at home. |
