To Dimapur by road. Visited the site in view for the garage etc. of the mail contractor. A site has been found close to the Post Office and will be settled with the contractor for the period of his contract. |

The Dispensary hospital has fallen down. It is, I think, maintained by local subscriptions and has been allowed to fall out of repair. |

I visited the bazar and had a look at the new metalling; the cobbling at the sides of the pukka has been very badly done. I selected a site for the Manipuri bazar between the Assam Rifle's Godown and the Ampukhri, and it will be demarcated into plots and opened for settlement as soon as possible. A question has arisen about the fishery of the Ampukhri. A Bengali applied for settlement and he appeared and said that I had given him settlement of the fishery but refused settlement of any site on the bank. I had not got the papers and fancy that he was misrepresenting the case. |
