text: I sent an interpreter to recount Zalukemi, 3 miles away, while I went myself to Mhaime - about four miles but including a very stiff climb down into and back out of a ravine. It took me two hours to get back from Mhaime to Lakema though I ran the last quarter mile to get in before the rain. The storm burst as I reached the Inspection Bungalow.
text: The memorial circles at Mhaime have the stones on edge in the Sema style instead of laid flat as they usually are by Kachha Nagas. A picturesque village on a spur of Paona overhanging the valley and the plains to the west.
