text: My dear Hutton,
text: Your letter of 31st was waiting for me when I crawled in yesterday. Masses of work and only time for a line now. Here are prints of the long daos (yantheng). On the print marked with a cross on the back the top of the long dao just reaches the top of the print. It is cut off in the other. The stick is 1.5 ft long and gives the scale. The bottom of the longest dao is curved like this SKETCH - like a Chang dao in fact. Can you do me a drawing for a plate showing these three types of Yantheng and the Nchung and Liye daos - more or less to scale?
text: I have written to Mrs Bailey about an ayah.
text: Have no Lhota shields handy I'm afraid. All gone home.
